trigger a CCD camera using pulse generator

Hi

I need some pointers on how to go about the following setup.

I have a set up currently which goes like : A CCD camera (Thorlabs DC210) captures a video for user specified duration and saves it as a .avi file.I wish to trigger this CCD camera externally using a pulse generator.Bsaically the pulse generator should trigger the camera once every hour and the camera should capture the video for the specified duration and save it as a .avi file.Could anyone give me pointers on how to go about the same?

Thanks
Sukanya

Hi Sukanya,

I see that you are using a Firewire camera. We have an example that you should be able to use directly. The example is called "Triggered Grab.vi" and you can find it in the "Example Finder" (Help>>Find examples...)

If you are using the NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394 driver, you can find it here:

Hardware Input and Output>>IMAQ1394>>Signal Input and Output>>Triggered Grab.vi

If you are using the IMAQdx driver, you can find it here:

Hardware Input and Output>>IMAQdx>>Signal Input and Output>>Triggered Grab.vi

The only change you will need to make is increase the timeout to accomodate your trigger that will come only once every hour.
