problems with labview and ni vision compatibility

i've installed labview 8.5 and ni vision 8.2 ( evaluation versions) , but when i try opening any related vi it keeps on loading  IMAQ in <vi.lib>.

please suggest how to resolve the problem?

Greetings, and thank you for using the National Instruments forums. Could you clarify for me what you mean by "keeps loading IMAQ in <vi.lib>? Is it searching for IMAQ VI's in that particular library? What file path is being looked at?

NI Vision 8.2 actually does not install support for LabVIEW 8.5, and is only compatible with versions of LabVIEW up to 8.2, which is likely why you are having strange issues. Do you have LabVIEW 8.2 installed? It may be that 8.5 does not see these VI's in it's own vi.lib and is searching for the IMAQ VI's in LabVIEW 8.2's libraries.

If you are evaluating both LabVIEW and NI Vision, I would reccomend uninstalling both LabVIEW 8.5 and NI Vision 8.2, and then installing LabVIEW 8.2 and then NI Vision 8.2.

Your screenshot tells us that the search is still done in the LabVIEW 8.5 folder.
Did you follow Michael's advice? The problem should disappear when using his (un-)installation order.

The error that you are getting is because you are trying to open a VI in labVIEW 8.2 that was saved in LabVIEW 8.5. Are you trying to open a shipping example, or an application that you have written? One thing that you can do to open this VI in LabVIEW 8.2, is to first open it in LabVIEW 8.5, and then go to File >> Save for previous version, and then select version 8.2. Save the file, and then open it up in LabVIEW 8.2. I hope this helps!

It would appear as though you have a beta version of LabVIEW 8.2 which was not released publicly. You will need to uninstall this, and install a released version of the evaluation copy of LabVIEW 8.2. If you believe you have received this beta version in error, please contact National Instruments support directly by calling 1-866-ASK-MYNI (1-866-275-6964).

thnxx for the response.
truly speaking i downloaded this beta version of labview from some sources over the net! and if its illegal, i will uninstall it for sure ! but i m a student, working on a project so i really need a solution. which version fully supports ni vision 8.2?? do i have any possibilties with the chnage of registry, as suggested to someone asking for the same solution? i shall be obliged for the solution.

Kibitzer,

You will need to uninstall the illegitimate copy you currently have installed, and install a released version of LabVIEW 8.2. There is not a way to "convert" the beta into a released version through registry changes. As a student, it is very likely that your campus IT group already has licensed copies of LabVIEW that they can distribute to their students, so I would highly recommend that you check with them first.
