problems detecting multiple Firewire Cameras

I have just upgraded the PC in my vision system, i have 8 firewire cameras connected. if i connect them individually or upto 6 at a time there are no prolems, however when i connect 7 or 8 all but 2 dissapear from MAX. i am using VAS 8.2.3 with imaqdx 3.0.1. i can grab images from all cameras with no problems untill i connect all at the same time.
I am using a powered 1394 card (seen this prob before using an un-powered card), i have also tried routing the cameras through a powered hub with no effect.
The new pc's OS is win XP 64 bit and as far as i can tell all the imaq driver versions are correct for this.

Hope someone can help with this!

Hey Stewart,
The 64-bit versions of Windows are not compatible with previous 32-bit Windows drivers. All National Instruments hardware drivers currently offered for Windows XP are based upon 32-bit technology and thus will not likely function on 64-bit Windows. These have not been tested and hence we do not recommend it.
However, "Installing Labview on Vista x64" discusses the Windows on Windows 64 emulation layer which might be of interest to you.

Hi Stewart,

While Kabul is correct that IMAQ does not officially support Windows XP 64-bit (we do however support 64-bit on Vista), it should still work properly as most drivers are the same between Windows XP and Vista of the same bit-ness (generally). As you described, the cameras were working correctly but you had problems when you went with >6 cameras. This is showing that it is probably not any driver/software issue but most likely an issue powering the cameras. Even though you are using a powered hub there is a very good chance the hub cannot power all those cameras at once. Have you tried using more than one powered hub and split the cameras between them?

I never did get this to work on 64bit xp or vista, so i installed Win XP 32bit and all is well.
