I had an old program that ran flawlessly for about 3 years until the comptuer died ..
I need to get it up and running again, its a vital instrument.
The old application used NI labview 6, vision 6.0.1, and nd ni imaq Im not sure what version..
I still have those old labview and vision CDs as well as the newest versions (labview 8.2 or whatever)
So Ive installed labview 6, then tried ni imaq (2.7, 3.1, 3.5, 3.7, etc), and then vision.
When I try to bring up old program, many NI IMAQ VIs are missing while others are there.
These missing VIs include IMAQ configure list, configure trigger, start, configure, list, extract buffer, etc..
It does have some VIs such as IMAQ Create.
A search shows the missing vis are probably part of the vision acqusion software (ni imaq) package.

The only way I can get those missing VIs to show up is if install labview 8,
In labview 8 the VIS are there but then the program crashes.
"labview.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvience."
Ive figured some of the dozens of problem.. the VIs are different.
For instance, I can get rid of the crash by rewiring "IMAQ configure Trigger"...
The old imaq configure trigger had an input called "trigger polarity" that accepted a boolean input.
the new version in labview 8 takes input from a drop down (v32).
By fixing that alone, the program wont crash anymore, but its still rittled with bugs.
Ill say its really annoying the program doesnt automatically break these bad connections (wires)with a complile or run.
Anyway. there are a lot more more errors that are making the program flake out.
Its a huge program and Id just rather get my old time tested program running then have to basically rewrite ..
So tried using hte old NI IMAQ (ex 3.1) with labview 8 and the newest vision (8.0) in hopes to get the old VIs back.
In this case, there are again no VIs that show up (this with vision 6 or 😎
At this point, all I want is to get the old program running.
I DONT care about the latest version of labview, vision, Imaq, whatever..
Where are the old VIs I used in labview 6.
What should I try.
