Can somebody tell how big diameter you can detect with vision?

It all depends on your field of view.  The larger the field of view, the larger diameter you can measure.  It helps if the entire circle is in the field of view, but it isn't absolutely necessary.

You can measure distance by passing an RGB image to 8bit and extract a color plane insert VERTICAL CLAMP IMAQ function MIN which will measure the minimum height of the piece analyzed, this function block can be located within the route MACHINE VISION / MEASURE DISTANCES
