We used VBAI for all of our vision applications and we wish to share our practice for improving that wonderfull tool.
improvement suggestions:find edge-display the projection with for the tool "find edge" in editing mode.-add cancel functionnality to the editing mode. (ex: press escape) if we make a mistake when tracing broken lines or multiple arrows we would like to be able to cancel the last point, instead of restarting all from the beginning.. Indeed if we missed for one arrow (for a broken line or if there is several arrows), we haved to resstart all.
-Improve the speed of the find edge toolFinding an edge could be done in 2 steps: first: locate an approximate point using a intensity threshold on pixel values. Then derivate around that point to have a better precision.Since derivation applies only on few points, the edge detection is faster.
create ROI-create an option "rotated oval ROI" in the tool "Create Region of Interest"add possibility to put fractionnal values for the angle for rotated ROI
