firewire camera port failure

Hi, I read about firewire port failure due to cables. Can anybody tell me which damages the camera would experience because of such accident? Could it be simply repaired or it would be completely failed? Thanks!

You just damage the camera If you connect the power externally and with the voltage value out of the specifics, otherwise you don't damage anything because it is low power.
Moreover verify the IICD ver 1.3 or DCAM camera complient.
Give me more info to investigate deeply

Dear Marco, thanks for answering.
My question was referred to the case of a six pins port (i.e. a powered bus). I read that because of bad cables or bad cables insertion, the port could experience a short. I would like to know if the camera too would fail or the damage would be limited to its port.
