difference between NI-IMAQ and NI-IMAQ for 1394 camera vi's

hi all,

can somebody tell me what is the difference between NI-IMAQ and NI-IMAQ for 1394 camera vi's, it seems to me that NI-IMAQ works with any 1394 camera, then how are these vi's different from 1394 vi's,

also i tried to install the NI-IMAQ for 1394 but tey dont show up in the vision and motion pallete, how do i get them to work or atleast see what vi's NI-IMAQ for 1394 contain.

also what is the diff between these and NI-IMAQdx, where would i need them.

I have 8.6 professional edition with all modules but i cant see 1394 VI's.

thanks,

Hi freemason,

In general, our NI-IMAQ driver supports our framegrabber cards and the IMAQ for 1394 supports only Firewire cameras. However, we do sell framegrabbers that Firewire cameras connect to and these will work with both drivers. The NI-IMAQdx driver replaced the IMAQ for 1394 in 2008 and it also includes support for GigE cameras. For the newest updates for communicating with a Firewire camera, you'll want to use IMAQdx. For more information look here.

Did you install NI-IMAQdx on your machine? If so, the IMAQ for 1394 palette is located in the NI-IMAQdx palette under Legacy.
