Hey Marty:
Unfortunately, the other VIs available to us do not return any data except for the last modified date/time. So, we have the following options:
1) I found this amazingly relevant KnowledgeBase article. It uses a Windows DLL to determine the creation date/time of a file. You can add the VI as a subVI into Check File Modification.vi by replacing Get Date/Time in Seconds. However, I'm guessing this won't run on the CVS since it's obviously not running Windows. The one chance you have with this option is to copy the DLL onto the CVS and hope it will still work.
2) Use the idea you mentioned above about putting the creation date/time into the file name. Parse this value out in the Check File Modification VI and compare it to the modified time.
3) Run the program as modified in option 1 from a host computer and have it connect to the CVS over FTP to do the file checking and deleting. Of course to do this, you will have to have a computer connected to the CVS in some form and cannot automatically run it on CVS bootup.
Since I don't think option 1 is going to work, option 2 seems to be the best choice. Give this a shot and let me know if you run into any issues. Good luck!
