center of mass of 3d stack

Hello,

We are writing an application which is recording 3D stacks of objects changing their shape during acquisition. In addition to that they drift away in x,y and z over time. To compensate for this drift our idea was to calculate the center of mass of the whole image plane and to use the coordinate delta to move them into the center position again. I have only found particle analysis functions in the vision documentation. The idea also was to calculate the drift vector iteratively (i.e. plane after plane), as the image stacks may not fit into the memory. I can either use C++ or C# (preferred) for the programming. The images are of I16 type.
Can you give me a hint how to evaluate a whole image plane?

Thanks a lot

Fabian
