What does "no external pixel clock" mean?

I am trying to acquire an image with a Cohu 7700 CCD camera, using "Camera Link Interface Standard" and an IMAQ 1428 card. An error keeps coming up: "no external pixel clock" - so that I'm not able to acquire any images. How do I solve this problem? Thanks!

I have seen this error before when the camera was not properly connected to the IMAQ board, so you may want to check your connections.

If this is not the problem, try running the diagnostics on the board in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) and make sure the board passes all tests.

Also, what version of the NI-IMAQ driver are you using? The most current version is NI-IMAQ 2.6. If you do not already have it, you can download the 2.6 driver from our website at http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/webcategories/85256410006C055586256BBB002C0D10?opendocument&node=132070_US.

If the problem persists, please contact NI support for further troubleshooting.

Thanks for the info: very useful: I had already run the tests with MAX - the board was fine. And I have the most current software; I checked the connections and you were right; it was not connected properly; in fact, the cord is not working right, so I'm going to send it in to the company...
Thanks again for your tips!
