CVI 8.1
Vision Dev Module (VDM) 8.2
Vision Runtime License
Using VDM without IMAQ card.
Want to create a distributable app to send to one customer.
I created a distribution for the CVI app, and manually running
the Vision Runtime after install.
Activated Vision Runtime but app locks up on VDM calls?
Any ideas?

Once upon a time the basic vision tools (create image, etc.) weren't available unless you installed IMAQ vision acquisition. I'm not sure if that is still true, but I still make it a habit to install IMAQ just in case. It wouldn't hurt to try installing it and see if it solves the problem.

Can IMAQ run without MAX?
Don't you also need a runtime license for the Image Acquisition Drivers?
Seems like alot of overhead... I am trying to port an existing app I've developed
for a cameralink based camera to one based upon USB.
Have you had any experience with OpenCV under CVI?

You do need a license for IMAQdx but not for IMAQ. If you selectively install just IMAQ you are fine.
It will also install MAX. I don't know of a way around that.
I agree it is a lot of overhead. I just think it might solve your problem. I would try installing IMAQ, and if it doesn't work uninstall it and MAX.
If you are using the USB drivers, I seem to recall they require one or two other things to be installed. Couldn't tell you what, though.
Can you tell where your program is hanging up? Which function is it trying to call when it stops? This could help identify the problem.

To use the USB camera driver (note, this isn't officially supported by NI), you need the Vision Acquisition Software installed. If you're not doing acquisition, you shouldn't need that driver and VDM should work fine.
Maybe you can isolate which calls are causing the problem?
