VBAI-3.0 Problem

I am using VBAI-2.6.1 but recently I downloaded a copy of VBAI-3.0 upgrade. The problem is I cannot install the software as it shows an error message every time i run the setup.exe or autorun file. I downloaded VBAI twice but everytime the same problem occurs. I am logged in with Administrator rights. I am running XP/SP2(beta). The error message that i am receiving is given below:

"WINDOWS CANNOT ACCESS THE SPECIFIED DEVICE, PATH OR FILE. YOU MAY NOT HAVE THE APPROPRIATE PERMISSIONS TO ACCESS THE ITEM."

Your help shall be highly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Hello Faisal,

Thank you for using our discussion forums.  Just to add clarification, VBAI 3.0 is not an upgrade, but rather a stand alone full install.  Are you getting this error when you are trying to run the executable or after you have installed and are trying to run VBAI?  Based on the behavior you are reporting, I would like to suggest trying to download and run VBAI 3.0 onto another test PC to determine if something is wrong with the OS.  Please let us know if you need any further assistance.

Dear Vu,

I am getting this error while trying to run the executable "setup.exe" present in the downloaded folder.

I have version 2.6.1 of VBAI already installed on my PC. Could this be the reason for this error?

Your comments shall be highly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Hello Faisal Mirza,

I do not think the problem is with VBAI 2.6  Since they are stand-alone, we can have both versions on one PC.  I currently have both functioning on mine.  Have you tried downloading and running the executable on another computer?

Vu, you said you run both VBAI 2.6 and 3.0 on your PC, but have you ever tried to connect to a CVS (or other real-time device) with 2.6 on it via that PC and then tried to open up any inspection in Configuration Mode?  Just curious.

Hello Scott,

Thank you for using our discussion forums.  In regards to your question, yes, as long as there is only one version of VBAI on the CVS target, it should be fine.  Also I have referenced another discussion forum which pertains to VBAI software with CVS that hopefully answers your question and which you can also post further issues to regarding this topic.  Please let us know if there is anything else we can help with.
