Using Hyper Terminal With Vision Assistant

Hi,

I have read gistguy's related message.

I'm using a Redlake ES1.0 in the triggered double exposure (TDE) mode. My trigger doen't seem to work properly.

The TDE mode requires external trigger available at the back panel of the camera. But in the Vision Assistant 7.1 I'm using, it only gives T0, ...., T3 and RTSI triggers.

There is no option for external trigger. Is there a fix for this? If I choose External trigger in the camera file and T0 in Vision Assistant, the camera is not being triggered,

indicating that Visiion Assistant settings are overriding the camera file settings.

Also, I am wondering, if Vision Assistant resets the other parameters I have selected in my camera ICD file.

Is it possible to use the hyper terminal for the camera commands and use Vision Assistant just for minimal functions such as displaying and saving images?

I'm setting certian items in MAX for the camera, but in Vision Assistant they are not available or conflict with the settings in MAX.

In Vision Assistant there are two place I select the "timeout?" Why?

Thanks.

Hi,

My configuration:

PCI-1422 frame grabber

Redlake ES1.0 camera

NI camera cable

WinXP OS

Using IMAQ 7.1, NI Vision development system

All the items in the toos menu are grayed out during acquisition and image processing. Can someone tell me why?

Is it possible to view the script file in ASCII?

Thanks.

I figured answers to my second posting.

There seems to be an order in which to use options in tools menu. I see it is active some times, but not always.

And it looks like script is not in ASCII, but icon-based.

Hi AE_Miner -

If you select a triggered acquisition in VA, it will expect your single trigger signal to be input on one of the 1422's external trigger pins.  The driver will use this signal to trigger the camera on one of the CC lines, as defined in the camera file.

If your camera uses a two-trigger mode, you will need to connect those signals directly to the camera.  When grabbing or snapping an image, you would not use the triggerring option in VA.  (You may need to increase the timeout threshold in MAX to account for delays in the trigger signal.)

Also, you won't be able to use HyperTerminal or any other serial communication client to access the serial lines on your 1422.  These lines aren't enumerated by the OS as a valid port, so you can only address them using the NI-IMAQ driver.
