Hello,
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a touchscreen to use with the CVS-1458RT. My goal is to have a mobile camera assembly, where a touchscreen is used to monitor/control my data/image collection. I think that a touchscreen would make it easy to use out in the field. Also, I am unsure if you would be able to type (for example, a file name for an image) by using just the touchscreen, or if maybe there is some sort of driver required. Ease of use for a touchscreen would be a concern for me. Thanks!

Something like this should work with the CVS 1458RT since it runs NI Linux RT:

I believe there is some KB for enabling a soft-keyboard on-screen.

Are there any cheaper options? I don't think I need as much capability as those touchscreens appear to offer.

It is quite likely any generic touchscreen would work. You just need it to have a VGA input for the 1458RT and a USB connection for the touchscreen controls. You may have to fiddle with some of the X11 settings to configure it properly for the details of your setup, but since NI Linux RT is a fairly basic Linux system you can probably work with the touchscreen vendor.
