RedLake ES-3200 Camera Shutter Control

We have a RedLake Mega Plus II ES-3200 1472x2184 CCD array camera with a RedLake Camera Conrol Unit (CCU) interface that accepts an IEEE-1394 Firewire input and outputs an interface cable to the camera. Under LabVIEW 8.2 low level IMAQ1394 vi's are used to grab a frame of image data from the camera where the shutter is locked open. We need to synchronize the shutter with frame grabbing because otherwise the image has vertical streaks from charge integration. So what we are looking for are IMAQ1394 Firewire compatible vi drivers to operate the mechanical shutter on the camera. Anyone having dealt with this type of problem and figured out a solution would be dearly appreciated for sharing some information with regards to this problem. Thanks.

Hello Peter,

You cannot pass a hardware timed trigger (for your shutter) over a firewire cable because data is sent in packets over firewire lines.  Many firewire cameras have separate trigger inputs for dedicated trigger lines.

When you Snap an image in the Measurement and Automation Explorer, do you observe the same streaks?

Best Regards,
