RT and vison

Hello,
I want to do a vision application on a realtime-system with a destkop system.
I would prefer a RTX System, but I heared it isn't possible? Is this right?
Do I need an ETS-System?

RTX does not exist any more.  It was discontinued one or two LabVIEW version ago.

ETS works pretty well.  It just has the disadvantage of needing a second computer.

Do you really need realtime?  A modern multicore PC can handle quite a bit of processing, and the Windows latency is pretty small.  I think with multicore it is even less likely to interrupt a critical process, since Windows will only tie up one of the CPUs.  Unless you are doing control with critical timing, I don't usually see a need for realtime.

Ok, it isn't possible to have windows and RT on the same desktop, isn't it?
 
In the first step a I want to do a vision application, after that I want to build up a position control. Therefore I want do the vision application also on the RT system.
