QImaging

Has anyone tried using the QImaging Micropublisher / Olympus Q-Color-3 to do time lapse imaging in Labview? The camera has an SDK but I can't get it to recognize the camera, possibly because it's not DCAM compliant. Any suggestions?

Hello jpatel0.

I tried to take a look at QImaging's website, and found some information about their software offering a LabVIEW interface.
QImaging Software

I am a little confused about exactly what products you are using. If you are using our NI-IMAQ for 1394 driver, then your camera must be DCAM compliant for it to work. If the camera has a driver/LabVIEW API then it wont necessarily have to be. Take a look at the previous link and perhaps the Olympus support site for more
information about using your camera in LabVIEW.

Thanks for contacting us!

Hi Colin,

Thanks for responding. We have the NI-IMAQ for 1394 because we have other firewire cameras as well. Those work fine because they are DCAM compliant. The QImaging camera however is not DCAM compliant. The only software it works with to take pictures is the proprietary software that comes with it (not very helpful). However, I did download the SDK and it has the API driver and commands manual. I tried working with that yesterday, but since I've never worked with these commands before, I wasn't very successful at my first attempt. Theoretically though, since I have these I should be able to make it work, right?

Theoretically, yes.

Again, it sounds like they even have a LabVIEW API that you could install, which should give you access to the same functionality as the SDK.
