Plese help me in Machine Vision in RTOS / USB-Firewaire camera / SBC /

 Dear. an experience LabVIEW programmer

I want to make vision and control embedded system.

I am now using vision with Visa, IEEE and USB.

I only used to work with Desptop PC, PXI and cRIO.

I want to use single board computer for vision and control.

I needed the SBC send command through serial port.

I want to know about  questions ,really .

1.Is LabVIEW Real-time OS support with USB camera?
How can I use USB camera on LabVIEW Real-time OS, do they need the camera's driver install on the OS, how?

2.Is LabVIEW Real-time OS support with firewire camera?
Which one of the Firewire camera supported by LabVIEW Real-time OS and which one is not?
Are there any document in NI.com about them?

3.Where IEEE1394 or Firewire camera can be buyed in very cheapest price? and small size (less than 100 g)
low resolution
low frame rate
need to work with LabVIEW RTOS.

Thank you.

Please help me in other questions that i really want to know.

Which economical SBC that support LabVIEW RTOS with ni-imaq and VISA for serial?
with ...........
LabVIEW RTOS supported
fairly cheap price.
High Speed CPU is fairly high (about 500MHz) because of running Image processing
small size (less than 12 x 10 cm) and weight (less than 500 g)
1-2 : serial (232, 485(option))
1 : IEEE 1394 (if NI imaq required only Gig or IEEE)
1 : USB ( if usb camera is available for LabVIEW RTOS)
1 : Intel 825.. Lan ( for LabVIEW RTOS supported)

Just some quick thoughts.

1) I would not recommend using a usb camera with RT.... driver issues will make you crazy.

2) IEEE 1394 (Firewire) cameras will work IF the camera is DCAM compliant. You can check to see which cameras are or are not compliant at www.ni.com/camera - The industrial camera advisor

3)  You can probably find a really low-cost Firewire webcam that is dcam compliant at Fry's or Radio Shack. I wouldn't recommend going that route for any important application, but if you just want to test to see if something will work it'll be ok. Just make sure it's DCAM compliant and the NI-IMAQdx driver will play friendly.

Hope this helps,

-Matt

Thank you so much, Matt

So i have to check the camera supported IIDC compliant ?

do i have to care about the version supported because it has a variety version likes 1.04,1.31.

Normally, I use a Basler ieee1394 with a NI Ieee1394 PCI grabber card.

But in my robot, I need embedded one.

there are some single board computer with Ieee1394 host,

Does it work with LabVIEW RTOS and Vision without a NI Grabber card?

Can you suggest me some SBC or PC104, ETX model with a small size?

Thank you.

Hi YaoK,

USB cameras are not supported in real-time as they require the Microsoft DirectShow which is a Windows thing.

The FireWire camera is indeed required to be IIDC compliant. Our CVS (compact vision systems), for instance, run a real-time OS and support FireWire cameras, for instance.
