NI-Imaq for 1394 fails to initialize

Nearly every time I boot my computer, NI-IMAQ for 1394 fails to initialize.

The system is a Windows 2000 (SP4) with LabView 7.0 and NI-IMAQ for 1394,
version 1.5.2. Restarting the computer does not always fix the problem.
In fact, rarely does a restart or power-off then on and rebooting make a
difference. The NI-IMAQ devices only show up after about 1 of 10 or fewer
occasions after rebooting.
The OHCI compliant 1394 Device and driver are functioning properly.
Why does NI-IMAQ for 1394 fail to initialize?
Is there a boot-configuration program like imaqboot.exe for NI-IMAQ for
1394?
How can I force NI-IMAQ for 1394 to reboot and attempt to see the camera
devices, during or after the PC boots?

Hi gcut,

It is possible that your IMAQ for 1394 drivers are corrupt or in need of updating. The following KnowledgeBase article describes an issue with symptoms similar to the ones you are experiencing:

NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394 Driver Settings Reset after Rebooting Windows

You may be able to work around the issue by reassociating your Firewire card (OHCI interface) with the IMAQ driver. The article also mentions that upgrading your IMAQ for 1394 driver may fix the problem. Since you already have version 1.5.2, you can upgrade to version 2.0.1 at no extra cost. This is the last IMAQ for 1394 driver that was released before the introduction of NI's Vision Acquisition Software. The update to 2.0.1 can be found here:

NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394 Version 2.0.1 for Windows 2000/XP

See if either of those do the trick for you and post back with the results.
