Motion Tracking to Coordinate System

Hello all. I have a project to do, which I am supposed to track the movement of an object (let's say the movement of an eye i.e.) and then transfer the motion to coordinate system (a xy system I suppose), i.e. the object moved left, so the marker on the coordinate system moved left. I really need some guidance, general advice, where should I refer. I am familiar with the LabVIEW environment but on this one, I feel completely lost. So I really hope someone will spare some guidance. Thanks for your time.

I just got sent this example yesterday in an email. I think it is a good place to get started. It was created by one of the Applications Engineers in our UK branch.
