Measurement and Automation Explorer

Problems with Measurement and Automation Explorer and Windows XP sp2 - I've installed NI Vision 8.0, including Measurement and Automation 4.0, while logged in as the Administrator. I then installed two NI frame grabber boards (1422 and 1407) with a camera attached to each one. Everything works fine as long as I am the Administrator. (Explorer finds the boards and cameras and images correctly.) If I log in under my own login, the Explorer doesn't find any devices.

I expect that my login doesn't have the correct permission to allow Explorer to find devices. Could anyone tell me how to set up my user permissions so that Explorer will allow other logins than just the Administrator to use the program?

Thanks

Hello,

Nice bit of troubleshooting there.  It is indeed true that you have to have administrative access inorder for the IMAQ driver to work correctly.  Because the IMAQ driver requires access to resources on the PC that are protected from users other than members of the Administrators group you must either use the Administrator account or add your user account to the Administrators group.  You can add yourself to the administrators group through the User Accounts applet in the Windows Control Panel by logging in as the Administrator, selecting your account and clicking the properties button.  Then add yourself to the Administrators group.
