Labview/vision crashes the PC

Hello All,
I have used a 2.4Ghz XP laptop with Labview 7.0 with vision and the USB camera driver successfully. I then tried to migrate the existing code to a 1Ghz XP machine with Labview 8.0 with vision and the same USB driver.

The webcam used is: 360 USB 2.0 Spacecam, the PC doesnt have USB 2.0 and complains it can run at the lower speed but...

I can run VideoImpression 1.6 software and see moving images ok but when I try running the code from Labview the machine may crash immidiately or after a few minutes. Could it be the revised 7.0 to 8.0 Vision vis are corrupted in some way?

Advice appreciated.

Regards

Chris

Hi CB,

I would suggest the problems don't lie with the Vision Vi's but with the IMAQ for USB driver vi's in LabVIEW.

Well unfortunatelly the USB drivers aren't actually an NI product.  They are software drivers that have been created by a customer of ours and were created prior to the LabVIEW 8 release.  They work by leveraging the driver that you install with the camera.  I believe the problem could be that the USB LabVIEW driver is trying to use the generic functions from the camera driver and these aren't avaliable (because the camera driver is using it's legacy support commands etc (as it's USB 1.1)).

You say this works on your previous machine with LV 7.0 and Vision 7?

Have you tried installing Vision 8.0 on this machine and trying again?
