Image acquisition speed

I am using a 1409 board with a Sony analog camera(30 f/s). The software I am using is Labview 7.1 and Vision assistant 7.1.1. I have 2 cameras connected. When I snap a picture in my LabView program from either camera it appears to take 250 ms for each to display. Why is it taking so much time? What can be done to snap an image, and have it displayed as quickly as the frame rate of the camera allows?

Dennis,

Have you tried performing acquisitions in Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX)? Were you able to achieve the desired frame rates there? Does this behavior occur if you run the LabVIEW IMAQ shipping examples? I would suggest trying to run LL Grab to display the images. You may also want to try the LL Ring or LL Sequence examples. The LL Ring and LL Sequence VIs make use of multiple buffers for the acquisition so they may be able to acquire at a better frame rate than the Grab function.

These shipping examples can be found at:
C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\examples\IMAQ\IMAQ Low Level.llb

Take a look at those and the acquisition in MAX and let me know if the trouble persists. If those examples work, I would suggest building your code off of them.
