IMAQ 1394 problem

I am having a problem and was wondering if anyone else has had something similar happen.  I am using the IMAQ 1394 driver for grabbing images from a firewire camera within an application written with LV 7.1.1 (running on windows XP).  I have had several occasions where the computer has either shut down or I have gotten the blue screen of death.  After restarting the computer,  I get a time out error when trying to get an image form the camera.  If I open up MAX and try to grap images from the camera I get the same time out error.  If I change the camera mode from Format 7 (which I am using) to something else and them back to Format 7, and change from color mode to B/W mode and then back to color mode, the camera starts working right again.  Any one know what is going on?

Derrell,
what kind of Service Pack have you intalled  - SP2 ? Camera type and driver vision could be interesting, too.
I know, that XP SP2 has a problem with the 1394 bandwidth. You can downlaod a fix from:

Thanks for the info Steffen,

I am indeed using XP SP2, NI IMAQ v2.0.0, and a ISG LW-3-S 1394 firewire camera.  The program that is running is an executable created with labview v7.1.1

Hello,

Did the fix for SP2 that Steffen recommended help?  Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the NI-IMAQ for 1394 drivers?  Have you checked the documentation for your camera to be certain that it has full support for the acquisition window size and other format 7 parameters that you are trying to use?

I did install the SP2 patch but it is too soon to tell if it has solved our problem. The problem just happens occasionally and I can't reproduce it at will. I have not reinstalled the 1394 IMAQ software but I do know that our camera supports the window size and format.
