How can i combine three different color planes into a single color image?

Hi..

i have three different color planes, a red color plane 8 bits, a green color plane 8 bits and a blue color plane 8 bits. What i want to do is to combine this images to obtain the original color image. How can i do this withuot NI Vision? i only have NI IMAQ 2.6.

I guess it would be the same for when i have separate HSL palnes right?

There is a VI in the Vision Development Module that will do this for you. How are you getting three eight bit images in the first place? Do you have a 1409 with three cameras or an RGB camera?

Regardless, I don't think you'll be able to do it with just NI-IMAQ. You'll probably have to convert each eight bit image into a 2D array of pixel values. concatenate each pixel with the other two to make a 24 bit value, and display the image using a picture control.

Thank you for using our discussion forums.  Since it has been three years, Kyle might not reply to this thread seeing as he might have already moved out of the department.  But to expand on what Kyle mentioned above, there are available VIs in VDM that you can use.  I am not sure what your application is, but you might want to take a look at IMAQ ArrayToColorImage, IMAQ ExtractColorPlanes, IMAQ ReplaceColorPlane, and IMAQ ColorValueToInteger.  If you would like to contact one of our applications engineers directly, you can also look into purchasing phone support or contacting your sales rep regarding a 30-day trial.  Hope this helps.
