How To Start With Firewire Marlin F-046C Camera?

Hi everyone,

I'm a very beginner in controlling cameras from LabVIEW. I have a Marlin F-046C Camera controlled by a firewire interface and I don't know how to work with this from my LabVIEW application.

I don't know even if I need any type of software package. I already have the NI Vision one.

I tried to look for the camera in Measurement & Automation Explorer but there's no camera there.

I need someone to give me some indications in wich software is needed and how to configure labVIEW to get images from the camera.

Thanks in advance!!

Hi Juanjo,

For an overview of controlling AVT cameras using National Instruments software, please see http://www.alliedvisiontec.com/files/pdf/produkte/AVT_SDK_Selector_v1_02.pdf

In particular please note pages 11 and 12 of that document.

Regards,

Scott

You should probably get the IMAQ vision for firewire. It contains many vi's to control the camera and to capture images.

Is there an IMAQ Vision software package for firewire? or it's the same IMAQ Vision I have? Mine is LabVIEW 7.1 and Vision 71.
Thanks!

There is an additional package of drivers which is called IMAQ FOR IEEE 1394 CAMERAS.

Thanks! I have already found the NI_MAQ for IEEE 1394 Cameras at http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/2977#toc3

I'll try to make this work. See you! Smiley Very Happy

You may also look into the newly released NI-IMAQdx 3.0 which ships as part of Vision Acquisition Software 8.2.1.
http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/webcategories/85256410006C055586256BE60070436D?opendocument&node=132060_US

NI-IMAQdx 3.0 supercedes NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394 Cameras 2.x and is recommended for new FireWire (and Gigabit Ethernet) camera development. NI-IMAQdx provides support for all the latest development environments and has single API that can be used for both FireWire and Ethernet camera applications. Please note that NI-IMAQ for IEEE 1394 Cameras 2.x will continue to ship as part of Vision Acquisition Software but will not be maintained for future releases.

Hope this helps,

Johann
