Getting a periodic pause

I need to acquire images from 2 cameras (firewire) simultaneously. They are externally triggered by an NI USB-6009. The application suffers from pausing at irregular intervals for the time out period set in the program. Whilst pausing, the task manager indicates a +95% idle time and zero for LabVIEW. The hard drive is busy during part of this pause. The problem has contiued from LabVIEW 8. In addition, but not often, on start up, one camera cannot be accessed. The program can be left running and this fault clears itself.

I have removed all software for one camera and externally triggered the other camera. The pausing problem persists.

A previous posted problem of pausing was traced to a firewire board problem but no details were posted.

Any ideas.

Hi,

I'm not 100% what your saying, so I'll try and sum it up.

So are you running one LabVIEW application, that has code for the triggering using the USB-6009's and the acquisition code for the firewire cameras, and its during the running of this code you are getting a pause? Is this for the timeouts on the cameras, as in they are not receiving the correct triggers and thus timing out?

If this is the case, how are you controlling the rate at which you provide the trigger output for the camera's?

Can you post the code for your application so I can take a closer look at this? Also what cameras are you using?
