FireWire, also known as IEEE 1394

I am interested to purchase a FireWire camera for color image testing. I am currently running on LabView 7.1 and Vision Assistant 7.0. I would like to know if I decide to migrate to this new camera, do I need to upgrade my NI version to 8.2? Does this camera support vision Assistant?

Hi magstan,

You should not need to upgrade your LabVIEW or Vision software in order to use the new Firewire camera.  However, you will need to download the Vision Acquisition Software in order to interface with the camera in LabVIEW.

Installing the Vision Acquisition Software will give you a 30-day free trial of the IMAQdx drivers, which allow you to acquire from Firewire cameras and bring the images into LabVIEW or the Vision Assistant.  After this 30-day free trial, you can purchase a license for the IMAQdx drivers on the Vision Acquisition Software product page.

I hope this helps.
