Hello,
As far as I know an image has to be rectangle (X resolution, Y resolution). But dependeing on what you want to do, maybe you dont really mind about the shape of the image itself ... you can specify a ROI (Region Of Interest) with which you restrict the processing. ROIs can be circular, annular, rotated rectangles, etc...
