Error using Vision Functions

I'm using Labview to capture a image and try to use some functions to recognize a code bar or a number. I installed the Vision for USB and don't have problems to get a image with snap and grab and show this image on screen with the IMAQ Windraw.

The error appear when i tried to use any Image Processing or Machine Vision functions. The following message appear:

"Error -1074396080 occurred at IMAQ Distance Invalid Image Type."

Possible Reason(s):

IMAQ Vision: (Hex 0xBFF60450) Invalid Image Type.

I tried to find this error code but i can't.

Thank for help.

Hi I am guessing that your image is colour. You will need to convert to a greyscale image. Use the ExtractColorPlane VI and extract the Intensity plane. Once this is done, your error should go away. make sure that you declare a new image so you can wire a destination to this vi as well. Hope that helps Mike

Yeah, when I used the ExtractColorPlane.Vi the error go away. But I can't work with a color image?

There are very few functions where you need to work with a colour image, and the majority of cameras in the industrial space are greyscale for numerous reasons. Hence most of the functions will only work on a greyscale image.
