Hi. I use PCI-1411 and the measurement & automation explorer to grab images from a Sony color camera video. This system usually works well for like half an hour. Then it will stopping grabbing and there is a error massage as follows:
ERROR(DMA Timeout): The system is unable to capture all of the incoming video data. To fix this problem, you can reduce the size of the acquisition window. This setting is located in the Basic Camera Setting property page. Reducing the acquisition window size decreases the amount of video data to capture.
I reduces the acquisition size to 50×50. But it still cannot continues to work for more than half an hour. However, I cannot decrease the size any more. What else could I do to make it work for a longer time? I really need it to grab the images continually for several hours. Any suggestion is appreciated. Thank you so much.

Hi calhua,
Can you change your framegrabber to another pci slot and check whether u r having the same problem even after that?

Hi Calhua,
Also, have you made sure you are using the most recent version of the IMAQ driver? You can download the most recent version here:
Vision Acquisition Software 8.6 - Windows 2000/Vista x64/Vista x86/XP
If changing PCI slots, and using the most recent version of the IMAQ driver doesn't work, then what operating system/version are you using? With an older version of Windows, some people have had problems with hyperthreading settings. See the forms post:
imaq-1408 will not snap due to IMG_ERR_TIMO and will not Grab due to DMA timeout
Best Regards,
