Control Canon digital camera

I am interested in controlling a Canon G-3 digital camera using LabView. Over the USB port, I want to change camera settings, take a picture, and download the picture into LabView. Has anyone tried this?

Dkinzer,

NI does not have direct support for USB Camera integration with LabVIEW, but there are several discussions linked below that talk about using USB cameras in LabVIEW. They might help you.
link to discussions of USB cameras one
link to discussions of USB cameras two
link to discussions of USB cameras three

Hello,

Is there a way to get to these Canon camera links now?  They seem to be from an old forum system...

Thanks

Greg,

Thanks for your post.  NI currently offers a free NI-IMAQ for USB Cameras hardware driver.  This driver gives our customers the ability to attach a directshow compliant USB camera to a PC to be read with our software (the driver is extremely generic and does not provide the ability to change the major functions in the camera).  The driver is offered on a free basis and has not undergone rigerous testing with a large supply of varied USB cameras.  To download this driver or for more information , please visit:
