Camera recommendations for particle detection, etc..

Hello Vision Gurus!

I need camera recommendations to detect particles in beverage bottles.

While you're at it, any camera(s) you know of that is good for bottle cap alignment, liquid level & OCR?

I know this has been done in the past -  I haven't tackled this problem yet & I don't want to re-invent the wheel.

Have you done some considerations about what resolution you need to detect the particles?

I have done alignment, liquid level search and OCR, all done with just a monochrome firewire camera with not that big a resolution, 640x480, but it depends on the project.

I am quite new at MachineVision (have worked with it in about 6 months), but my knowledge/experience so far, is that it all comes down to the lightingtechnique you want to use and of course the resolution of the camera, so if you are not considering using some spceial infrared, or what do I know, camera e.g. then I can't see why you shouldn't just use a monochrome camera.

Monochrome camera just might work.  You are right, its the lighting that makes the world of difference.  I'm looking into those cameras as I type.  Any other experiences?
