LabWindows/CVI for Linux

I currently use CVI to create application that work on Windows Operating system. I would like to know if i can
run these applications on Linux. If Not, do you have a CVI version that can create applications that work on both Windows and Linux. Your website has an CVI version that runs on both Windows and Sun. Can this be used to create applications that run on linux.

Thanking You,

Hi Rann,

Unfortunately, applications created in CVI (Win32)cannot run on a Linux platform. You would have to create the application in the Linux environment. Currently, NI does not have CVI ported for Linux, but we are monitoring demand for this product.

In order to get Sun applications to run on Linux, you would also have to port it. I would recommend looking over at Sun's website or your linux distribution's website to see if there are any utilities or applications that allow you to run Sun apps on your linux environment. Good Luck!

Hello Rann,

As an update, in August, we released the Run-Time Module for Linux, which allows you to develop on a Windows machine as you always have with CVI, and then run your application on various Linux distributions.

For more information on the Run-Time Module for Linux read: Introduction to the Run-Time Module for Linux Whitepaper

Thanks.
