Did you mean:

LabWindows 8.0 with WinXP gives me "File already exists" when I try to save after editing attributes

And it's true, the file does exist.  I want it to be updated!

In case it matters, we're using Clearcase and I do have this file checked out (so it's not read-only).  The *.h file gets updated but the *.c file refuses to be saved.

Any suggestions?  TIA ...

Hello BA,

It seems like there is a setting in Clearcase that is causing this error.  I would just like to ask you a few followup questions:

1. Do you only see this error when you modify your source file or do you see this error when you modify and save any file in CVI (header, uir files, etc)?
2. Also, how are you saving your file (Save, Save As...)?
3. Did you get this error with a previous version of CVI configured to work with Clearcase?
4. Do you have the project, workspace, header file, debug files, and source files checked out of Clearcase?
5. Also, using CVI 8.0, do you get this error when you run either a shipping example or another application that is not under source code control?

Look forward to hearing back from you.

Hi,

1. Do you only see this error when you modify your source file or do you see this error when you modify and save any file in CVI (header, uir files, etc)?

Only the source file (*.c).  The others save without problem.

2. Also, how are you saving your file (Save, Save As...)?

Save (or click on the icon for Save)

3. Did you get this error with a previous version of CVI configured to work with Clearcase?

I have successfully worked before with CVI files which were also under Clearcase (using LabWindows 5.1).  I have never done anything about making LabWindows work with ClearCase.  Since a checked-out file looks like 'just another file' to WIndows Explorer, I didn't realize anything more was needed.

4. Do you have the project, workspace, header file, debug files, and source files checked out of Clearcase?

Yes, all of those files are checked out (*.c, *.h, *.fp, *.sub, *.prj ... the *.cws file is not under ClearCase).

5. Also, using CVI 8.0, do you get this error when you run either a shipping example or another application that is not under source code control?
I haven't yet tried it.  And, I'm off for a week, so I'll try this when I get back.

Thanks ...
