Getting varying readings on analog in NI-9221 CompaqDAQ

I just bought a CompaqDAQ chassis along with a NI-9221 +/- 60v analog in module.  Using the test panel or a create DAQmx task the voltage readings vary wildly as much as 10% of the signal.  Is this just a bad module, do I have to calibrate, has anyone else seen this before?

Hi,

What are you using to test how much the reading is varying?  Have you tried the module in different slots in the cDAQ chassis?  Do you see the same
results in all slots you test it out in?  What is the calibration date of the module?  You can check this in Measurement and Automation explorer
(MAX).  Open MAX and go to My System >> Devices and Interfaces >> NI DAQmx Devices >> NI cDAQ-9172 >> NI 9221.  Click the calibration tab and
verify the calibration date.  According to the NI 9221 User Guide and Specifications, the readings should not vary more than 0.25% if you are using the module in the specified range of -40C - 70C.  You can send it in to National Instruments for calibration or you can follow the NI 9221 Calibration Procedure.  Does this module pass self test in MAX?  Did it ever take correct measurements?
