Conflict LabView and CVI

I installed LabView Evalution on the same XP-Pc as CVI.
CVI 6 is still working but CVI 7.0 is not.
When I start CVI I get the message: The requested feature is unavailable on "localhost".
Running CVI-install did not help.
Any suggestion?

The reference to localhost would suggest some network type element to the problem. Is your PC networked? Has CVI 7 ever run? Had you successfully activated it? If I recall correctly the 1st time it runs it takes you through the activation routine that verifies your licence online (never quite understood why this was brought out for CVI but not labview...) maybe something is attempting to contact a licencing server?
have you tried pinging localhost in case CVI wants to talk to the local PC as part of it's initialisation?
No definitive answers I'm afraid, but maybe one or two ideas...

Hi,
CVI 7 was running on this machine for about a year; no problem.
After LabView installation this happend. I will try to see if Norton is preventing LabView or CVI to connect to some internal host.
Thank you.

Hello,

Let me offer a few suggestions and try and get some more information. Can you run repair from "Add Remove Program" in the control panel. If you repair the NI LabWIndows/CVI 7.0 installation and sill recieve this error please provide us with some more information.

- What version of the LabVIEW Evaluation is it?
- What files are found in [Program Files]\National Instruments\Shared\License Manger\Licenses ?
- Can you go to the start menu and try running National Isntruments>>License Manager and see if CVI is licensed? If it is not try reactivating it.

Hope some of this helps you,
Jeff
