We ship an ActiveX control for use by our customers. In our example code we have created a Function Panel for them.
A customer has reported that he cannot create a new Function Panel using Vista - but he can create one using Windows XP.
Is there a known issue with creating Function Panels in Vista?

Hello John,
I would like to help you further with your question. Which version of LabWindows/CVI is being used by your customer? When trying to generate a Function Panel on Vista, is your customer seeing any error messages? Are they following the same procedure for both XP and Vista.

George, I have asked the question to the customer.
I am also trying to get LabWindows installed on a Vista machine here so I can try to replicate myself.
I will be in touch.

John

George,
Happens on XP as well. We are both using LabWindows 9.0.0. Mine is build 348.
When on the "ActiveX Controller Wizard - Advanced Options" screen, it tells me:
"There are identifiers that are too long or invalid that must be fixed in the Advanced Options dialog before you may continue....."
Click, "Advanced Options..." and shorten all the names that are too long.
Click OK
(Message about long names now gone)
Click Next.
Get dialog box that says, "Value is invald or out of range".
Happens every time for me.
I can send you the OCX if you need it to verify this bug.

Hello John,
One thing you should check on these machines that fail is the FP File Format. Do this by opening a .fp file in CVI, then going to the Options menu, and then selecting FP File Format. In this dialog, ensure that the Default Format for New Files is set to CVI 5.5 and later or CVI 8.5 and later. Once you have set it to one of these formats, you should be able to generate your function panels again. Please let me know if this does not work, or if you have any questions.

It works for me, and I have passed the solution to the customer.
