CVI 8.01 doesn't work with Telelogic Synergy, stuck in select task.

I upgraded to CVI 8.01 and Telelogic Synergy gets stuck in a loop, constantly asking for the task to use.

Thanks for bringing that to our attention.  Did it work in your previous version of CVI?  If so, what version of CVI did you upgrade from?

I upgraded from 7.1.1, it almost worked with that but it never got stuck in a loop. With 7.1.1 it would not consistantly see the files as being part of a project and would not let me check files in. I could manually check files out with CVI (using the Tools|Source Code Control menu selection). I had the same type of problem with SlickEdit so I thought it was Synergy but I recently tried using CodeWright and it worked flawlessly. You'd think that NI would be a little more interested in this, especially at $2000 a seat, but they just don't seem to be.

LabWindows/CVI supports source control programs that implement Microsoft standard Source Code Control Interface.  If you can, try using the source code control program with Visual Studio.  If this doesn't work, either Telelogic Synergy does not use Microsoft standard Source Code Control Interface or the problems are from Telelogic Synergy.  If this works, then it might seem that we have a problem with CVI.

It works fine with VC 6.0 and with CodeWright. It allows me to create a task and add files along with checking them in and out from VC. I had to add the SCC interface about a month ago and our IT department gave up trying to get it working with CVI after getting it to work with VC. I knew I was going to be upgrading to CVI 8.0.1 so I didn't worry too much. When 8.0.1 was even worse then I figured there was a problem. This is extremely frustrating, I've spent two days trying to get this to work, figuring it would be easier once done. I haven't found anybody here that has gotten CVI working with Synergy (nobody had even tried).

I have been looking into this issue and found a discussion forum that discusses the issue of Synergy's compatibility with CVI.

As well, this discussion thread references a knowledge base on how to make Synergy with TestStand; it's the same procedure except that steps 1 and 5 would correspond to CVI source code settings (Options -> Environment) rather than TestStand settings.

Let me know if this is unhelpful.

I looked into this further and contacted Telelogic Synergy as well as our R&D department.  Some of our customers using Synergy as source code control for LabVIEW have encountered a few additional configuration settings, but it seems to work well.  One specific problem that somebody had was resolved by Synergy support.  Basically, that person was encountering a problem where he would click on a project or task, close the dialog, but the dialog would come back the next time he tried to do something.  The problem ended up being that the dialog needed to stay open.

In any case, when I talked to Synergy to try and get an evaluation copy to debug with, they suggested that it is most likely a Synergy issue and recommended that you contact their support department.  The contact information that they gave me was as follows:

800-577-8449

Let us know if that is unsuccessful.

I have a few layers of support here to got through (they have other jobs also) so it gets to be a real pain, sometimes two weeks before I get a response from anybody here, especially if they have to deal with Telelogic and the server guys here. If the demo version of CVI would work for them to test with, maybe point them to the download? At least if they can get it to work properly then I will be willing to try again, especially since I still haven't heard of anybody having CVI and Synergy working together (LabVIEW and TestStand but not CVI). The response I keep getting here is that it is either NI's or Telelogic's problem and I can use the Synergy GUI (I've gotten some flack for spending too much time on this already).

Thanks

Is it ok if I contact you directly to resolve this issue? You can either mail in directly into our support channel or post your email on the forum, which ever one option you are comfortable with.
