CVI 2009 Build Distribution: create shortcuts

Solved!
Go to solution

When I edit the Build Distribution settings I want to install my application under C:\Program Files\myFactoryDir\myAppDir, so in the "Edit Installer" window I use the "Files" tab to modify "Installation Files & Directories" as I need.

Then I want to create the following shortcut:

[Start>>Programs]\myFactoryDir\myAppDir\myApp.exe

but I'm not able to specify "[Start>>Programs]\myFactoryDir\myAppDir" as Destination Directory (in the menu ring, only [Start>>Programs]\myAppDir is available).

Is there a way to do this in CVI 2009 (as I'm used to do with LabVIEW)?

Hi Vix,

After you added the shortcuts, go back to Files tab.

Under Installation Files & Directories you will see the shortcut folders listed. Right-click on them to add subdirectories.

Later in the Shortcuts tab, you can select this new folder.

Hope this helps,

I don't want to create the shortcut inside one of the installation subfolders (I can do this following your steps).

I want to create the shortcut under Start >> Program Files >> myFactoryDir, and I can't find this item in the Shortcuts tab

Vix,

ebalci is correct. You need to create the subdirectory in the Files tab, under the{Start>>Programs] folder, so that this destination directory is available to you in the Shortcuts tab. Actually, you shouldn't even have to do a thing in the Shortcuts tab if you keep the initial shortcut folder from the Files tab and place it under the appropriate subdirectory. Like this:

(ignore the name of my .exe; I didn't want to change the files in my project)

Actually, please ignore the previous screenshot. It looks like I misunderstood where you wanted to place your shortcut. But it's even easier then, since all you should need to do is to rename the shortcut folder in the Files tab:
