windrose

I am trying to create a real-time windrose chart using the data acquired from an anemometer. Anyone have any tips or experience in that matter?

Can you provide more details about what you are trying to do, how you plan to do it and where you are stuck (problem, etc)?

Thanks!

I am also interested in what you are trying to accomplish and how far you have come in developing an algorithm to do this.  A simple example of reading an anemometer can be found here:

http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361B-01/lvmeasapps/meas_volt/

However, I am sure there are going to be different methods for measurement depending on what type of anemometer you are planning to use.  If I am correct, your windrose chart would show the direction of the wind measured by the anemometer.  In LabVIEW, you could modify one of the front panel controls or use a picture box and programmatically draw lines to represent the direction of the wind.  Alternatively, a Polar Plot VI or Radar Plot VI could possibly be used to display your data.  I would recommend looking at the examples we have for these in the LabVIEW help.

More details would help us point you in the right direction, such as what hardware do you have available and what you plan to chart.

I actually came up with the idea of drawing a polar plot combining the intensity of the wind and wind direction. My wish is to create a statistical wind chart with histogram bars indicating intensity. See this picture:

Thanks everyone for the replys.

Best regards.
