vision no response

shallom to labview staf!

I am a student using labview 7.1 and robolab for labview.
I made some image analyzing algorthim. It worked very good without getting stuck at all.
Then something happend. Each time I run the program, it gets stuck.
sometimes after a minute, sometimes after a second.
i tried restarting the computer and then unistalling and re-installing the camera drivers. it doesn't help. the program keeps getting stuck forcing me to quit labview threw the task manger.
then i tried making the most simple program for vision , but and still anf gets stucks.
What can I do?

Assaf,

This sounds like an interesting project, but I need more information to be able to diagnose the issue.  I have a few questions:

  • Are you using NI-Vision?  If so, what version?
  • Are you developing your own image algorithm from scratch, or using ours?
  • You mentioned camera drivers, are you using NI-IMAQ or NI-IMAQdx?  If so, what versions?
  • What kind of camera are you using?
  • Have you tried the example programs in LabVIEW?  See if you can get any of these to crash and exhibit the same behavior.  (In LabVIEW, click Help » Find Examples)
  • Where is the program getting stuck?  Is it the same place every time or is it erratic?
  • Does the program exhibit any specific error code, or does it simply freeze?
  • Are you having crash problems with any other software on your computer?
  • When this occurs, are any processes on your system taking 100% or near 100% CPU usage?  To check this in Windows, right click the Taskbar, click Task Manager.  In Task Manager, click the Processes tab, look in the CPU column to see if any of the processes running on your system are the highest.

Regards,
Luke H

I agree that "gets stuck" is not enough information to get a useful solution from other users.  However, when I hear someone say they are starting with Vision and having problems, I immediately wonder if they have activated the program; this seems to cause minor headaches for many Vison newbies.  On windows, go the the Start menu > All Programs> National Instruments > NI License Manager.  If you really have a valid license, then activate Vision.  You should see a green box to the left of "Vision" indicating that it has been activated.
If this is not the problem, please try to provide more details.
