Installed LabView 8.2.1 on Pentium III, 256 MB RAM, Windows 2000 Professional, SP4, along with drivers and DAQ card.  When I restarted got the following message:

Looks like your full message is being chopped off, most likely due to a browser hiccup. The STOP code you're getting is typically related to a faulty or corrupted driver. The title of your thread seems to imply that you think it has to do with the viaagp1.sys driver, which is the AGP (video) interface. Can you boot into safe mode? Try doing a rollback to see if you can get back to a working state. Before reinstalling LabVIEW and the DAQ drivers check to see if there are any updates for your system drivers.

I hope the browser lets me complete this thought.  I uninstalled LabView and all drivers associated with it.  My computer worked find then.  I reinstalled LabView with NONE of the drivers.  My computer still works fine.  The viaagp1.sys file is doing its job and my display can be adjusted for better resolution and more colors.  It appears that the problem is either in the DAQ card (which I also removed) or one of the drivers with LabView.  NI Support (first level) didn't know of any of the drivers that whould interfere with this file. I'd rather not reinstall all the drivers (this computer is SLOW) until I know what one(s) not to install.  Any ideas?

Continuing to work on this.  I have again uninstalled and reinstalled, first LabView, then the DAQ card, and lastly the drivers from the LabView CDs.  It is definitely one of the drivers.  Is there a way to isolate which one?  I installed all the drivers in a separate folder within the NI folder on my hard drive.  I COULD, one at a time, put a driver in the recycle bin, see if the computer will restart correctly without that driver.  That is a SLOW process.  Is there a better way?  I would think that NI would have an answer for this, but no reply yet.

Hi Fair Hope,

Have you already called NI and opened a service request on this issue?

From reading other posts and browsing through past customer service requests, it appears that there is a definite conflict between the viaagp1.sys driver and one of NI's drivers.  It seems that there have been two things that have cleared this error up for others:

  1. A complete uninstall of all things NI.  This includes using msiblast and making registry edits as well as CCleaner. (Not my top pick, and I doubt it would help in your situation)
  2. Choosing to do the minimal installation when you install the drivers (only install what you really need).

Another thread regarding this incompatibility.

Let us know how things progress,

I had an initial problem getting LabView to load AT ALL.  With the help of NI I deleted all NI files, including registry entries.  That enabled me to load LabView.  Then I encountered the problem with this conflict.

How do I know which drivers I need so I can load only those drivers and see if the problem is solved?

 Hi Fair Hope,

So this error is occurring after you uninstalled and reinstalled both LabVIEW 8.2.1 and the drivers? The drivers that you will need will depend on which DAQ card that you are using. Can you tell us which DAQ card you are using and which drivers you are installing? Also, are you installing Traditional (legacy) DAQ driver or DAQmx driver? Also, does the error occur when you restart the computer or if you try to open LabVIEW? And after the error occurs, what happens? Does the computer shut down or does the error give you options of what to do next? Maybe you could post a screenshot of what the error looks like.

I thought I had replied, but since I don't see it on the thread:

I am using DAQCard 6036E.  I started loading the drivers that came with LabView which included NI-DAQMX ver. NI_DAQMX ver. 8.5.  I have since uninstalled everything, installed a new video driver, reloaded LabView and NI-DAQMX vs. 8.7.1.  The problem still occurs and ocurs when I have finished the download and restarted the computer.  It will not complete restart.  I get a STOP message, as explained in the first message.  By turning it off, restarting in "Last known good configuration" I am able to uninstall LabView and drivers so that the computer functions again.

I think it is time to give up on LabView on this computer.  I have the latest video driver that is available for this computer, I have the latest Service Pack for Windows 2000, and the latest DAQ drivers and still can't get it to work.  I have spent the better part of a week.  In the course of that time I have been through multiple installs and uninstalls, with the danger of making the computer unfit for its normal use (Despite MSIBlast I still have some NI installers that I can't eliminate - fortunately the only problem I see is that I get a window displayed that says it can't find an NI driver and I can close that without causing the system to malfunction)

So, thanks for the effort.  I'm disappointed; I had hoped to be able to use this computer, but looks like we'll have to purchase a new system (We have installed this version of LabView successfully on an IBM ThinkPad running WIndows XP, so know that it will run.)

Hi Fair Hope,

I'm sorry for all the issues you are having with the installation. One thing that I would suggest would be to call in (or email) to our support lines. You can go to Request Support on the ni.com webpage. I have been looking at compatibility issues and it seems that the DAQ card should be able to work fine with those versions of the DAQmx driver and with Windows 2000. One thing to check is do you have any anti-virus software or firewalls on during installation? If so, maybe we should try to disable them while the installation procedure is occurring.

Thanks.  Due to a browser hickup this message was entered several times.  I have had direct contact with Jessica of NI and several repliers to this thread (or its copies).  This computer was never intended to be connected to the internet so has no firewall or virus protection installed

The incompatibility appears to be between an NI driver and the graphics on this notebook computer.  I have updated the driver for the graphics, but that didn't resolve the issue.  The last suggestion was to upgrade the graphics card.  Unfortunately, this is an old notebook with the graphics built into the motherboard.  At this point I gave up and ordered a new computer.  It's cheaper than spending more time trying to resolve the problem.
