use a counter straight from a port?

I am trying to read a pulsed signal from one pin in an RS-232 port and count the edges. I am wondering if there is any way of isolating the single pin i need before sending it to a counter? If not, any other suggestions?

With a property node you can control and read all handshake lines of your COM port. It depends how fast you pulses are comming in.
