upgraded from Labview 7.1 to 8.0

Maybe we can help you better if you explain the real  problem.

So far I only see you unnecessary worries about the disk space. Which is in my opinion not a problem.

I want LabVIEW version 8.0 ..I contacted NI sales&NI center "THEY DONT HAVE IT"

So please can anyone of you plz provide your install files online please!? It's 500 to 600 megs at most.

Ni has its own ftp where lots of LabVIEW versions are available and can be downloaded, but 8.0 isn't in the list.So if NI doesn't have problem providing evaluation software, what problem you people have?

Let me see:

- You have been not really explaining very well what you try to do other than worrying about some sort of concerns about how much disk space your installation uses versus someone else’s.

- You want to move from 7.1, which was a pretty good version but had no project, to 8.0, which had a project but was about as stable and robust as a crystal glass. If you only looked a little to hard at a VI diagram it would crash already!

- We’re not in the business of distributing someone else’s software installer that takes 700MB or more just for LabVIEW itself. And several 100MB more for toolkits and drivers you seem to have installed in 7.1.

-We can’t support your for 200% sure occurring requests for problems with a software installation that almost certainly won’t work on your computer without some very careful holding of hands, friendly petting and lots of attentive love during the installation process and the subsequent crashes when you got it finally successfully installed.

- Last but not least, it’s on a backup harddisk that I would have to search, find the according disk adapter, install on my work computer and then find some cloud space to put on with very long upload times.

I’m sure I forgot a few things but this list seems already long enough to me.

For lolz, I checked on an old VM machine with Windows XP and LabVIEW 7.1.1. It's 530MB and it won't help you as I have installed the Application Builder, the Advanced Analysis Library, the LabVIEW DSC Toolkit, the Diadem interface libraries, DAQmx 8.7.2, and some of the OpenG Toolkit libraries. Anyone still having such an installation laying around for sure will have some additional software installed. Otherwise they would not have used it much and not retained it in some way or the other. In fact this was a backup installation that had only limited additional installers. My original 7.1.1 installation back in those days was actually about 1GB on disk!

But nobody in his sane mind is going to install that anywhere now, just to be able to tell you what the bare bone installation size would have been.

DAQmx is about +-9 MB. LabVIEW DSC is about 120MB, Diadem support is some 12 MB. Application Builder seems to be around 45MB plus some sprinkled around files, other Professional version addons such as version comparison and version control interface is another 35 MB. Advanced Analysis Library is some 16MB

I would say 350 MB sounds like the Full version with Application Builder and Advanced Analysis Library. 275 MB is then consequently the Base version without Application Builder and Advanced Analysis Library.

Sir, I would not bother you anything for software crashing or stuff ! My previous concerns for hdd space was just for fear of running out on space, that I have sorted.

Also LabVIEW 8.0 in just itself is not much, 600 mb at most, also i regularly download/upload stuff around 1 GB at my office.I have a project that sticks to 8.0 so I urgently need it. Therefore I by heart beg for you please search for your backup drive and upload 8.0 for me,will really be much obliged.

And I just want 8.0 no other tools, stuff!

When you have a LV8.0 project, that needs urgent work, then you should search for your own backup drive with your own LV8.0 installation media!

Come on: why do you need someone else provide the tools you need for your own stuff???

So you have an urgent LV8.0 project, but you don't own LV8.0 installation (media)?

How does it come? That's what I don't get…

Plz I beg you I need it, my boss wants it

NI will have a copy, for sure!

Once you can proof a valid license (for LV8.0) they will provide you with installation media!

Again: it's illegal for us to provide you software owned by NI. You need to ask/beg/convince the original manufacturer (aka NI aka Emerson) to provide you those media!

And you still can ask your manager to provide you with all stuff needed to do your work for him/her. (S)He is responsible to provide the tools needed, including licensing any software needed for work!

Btw. have you heard of this old discussion?

Archieve.org ,Torrents etc you name it all have it.

Search on your own in all those gray and dark places of the Internet. I will not hep you with this specific problem…

NO,i contacted every NI customer number and begged then for 8.0, one of their subsidiary did return call and said they don't have 8.0. Only 2019 and onwards are available.

Trial/evaluation version will also work, don't give me any license just evaluation version, also there are lots of posts here on NI forum where people download LabVIEW software from NI's FTP ,so is that also illegal?

My Boss doesn't have 8.0 copy, since we lost CDs and licence too.

Archive.org isn't a dark place, it's very good software downloading site..But torrent is dark
