uninstalling evaluation 7.0

I know that this has been an issue with 6.0.2 and now I have a similar problem with 7.0
Situation: PC Win2K, 6.0.2 Ful dev. installed.
I try to install now a LV 7.0 prof.dev. but I get a message similar to
"An evaluation version of Labview 7.0 was found on the system. You must uninstall that before you can install Labview 7.0"

I am not even aware, that I ever installed LV 7.0 evaluation on that specific computer. At least there are no traces of it neither in registry nor the National Instruments folder.
And of course not in the software/install uninstall service. So all the usual hints will not work.
I think, there is again somewhere in the installer swamp a cryptic reference.
Does anybody know how to remove that?
TIA

I'm guessing you want to leave LV 6 on the box then (otherwise just strip off all of LV 6 and any NI refs in the registry and then do the LV 7 install).

Have you tried renaming the C:\Program Files\National Instruments folder to something else prior to doing the LV 7 install?

The contents can then be transferred back to the new NI folder post install.

I remember this working for one situation before...

Thanks for your answer.
I did as one of the first attempts modify the name of the Labview folder, but it did not help.

Meanwhile I am about to install a parallel 2K system on the same machine. There installing 7.0 is no problem. So i will have a dual boot machine just for Labview 6.0 and 7.0. Isn't that pathetic ?

Have a nice weekend

Hi Gabriela,

Sorry to hear about your installation problems.

I have multiple version of LabVIEW (7.0, 6.1, 6.0.2) on my machine and fortunately installation was never a problem.

One thing that may be worth a try is to uninstall LabVIEW 6, install LabVIEW 7.0 and then after you are done installing LabVIEW 7.0, you can reinstall LabVIEW 6.0.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
Feroz

I ran a program obtained from NI support to explore all hidden programs left over by the LabView & evaluation program that I have uninstalled before trying to install LabView 7. Than I selected all these programs and uninstalled (deleted) them.

Hi Gabriela,

I had the same problem - but I had installed the evaluatin version of LV7. From NI-support I got a small
tool - msiblast. With msiblast I could deinstall all of the eval. components .Then the installation of LV7 worked fine.
Find attached this tool - maybe you can eliminate the "bad boy".

Werner

users tend to have problems with multiple installations. that msiBlast.zip file would help in most cases..... the easiest way to solve these problem is to uninstall every components and then install whichever you.  I looked for something like msiBlast file and found it here.... it solves my problems. thanks wha@atmel.
