triggering data logging programmatically

I want to log the state of my appoication periodically.  Is there a way to trigger 'Opperate->Data Logging->Log. . .' from within my porgram ?

(Using LabVIEW 7.1)

Hi Holomorph,

You are not able to select Log from the Operate window when a VI is running.  However you can programmatically log the state of the front panel when the VI is finished.  You can do this by placing a VI Server Reference on your block diagram and creating a property node for the VI Class.  You will find the Log at Finish property under the Auto Logging section.

If you would like to store front panel values during execution, I would recommend writing to a file.  I hope this helps answer your question.

It does, even if it's not the answer I was hoping for, thanks.

Writing to a file is not as elegant, especially for looking at things later.  Perhaps saving an image is the way to go - disk space is pretty cheap these days 😛
