subvi to get subset of any type of array

How do I go about writing a subVI that will
get a subset of any array passed to it whether the
array is boolean values or numerics?

I tried using ArrayRefnum but can't get far beyond that.

unfortunately, I'm using LV 6.1 so I couldn't open the VIs in that thread
