search words in a excel file

no what i am doing is , reading an excel file, and changing some data... after reading this and doing changes, i read it again(the excel file with changes done) for another process,

so my question is,

after read the original and do the changes i save the file in anotehr direction, so what i am saying is if there is an option to read the original, do changes, and without save it, make like a temporary file or something like this...

Why read Excel again? Let me know if I have understood you correctly,

1) Read Excel

2) Some calculation, changes in the data

3) Save it in Excel (in other Location)

4) Now you want to read original back again for other set of calculations right?

Then why to read again? You already have data in LabVIEW , right?... (Step 1)

Once you read the data , input same data to 1) the logic which does something and saves another excel

                                                                 2) And to the logic which has another set of operations.

the problem is that i have an excel file with variable names and pins or chanels where they are, and i am using the niusb6009.  so deppending in where pc i am working the device of this card changes, so i must read the excel and search if i need to usb6009(because no always work with this) if i work, change the device to the correct device we have recognized with loabview...and save it in other side,

after doing this all, star reading the changed excel to create a task with the correct channel and device to work good...

"4) Read the changed excel, for do another operations..." again Why you want to read excel again? You have written data in the excel right? So you have it already in LabVIEW. Use the same na... Unless you have applied formulaes in Excel sheet which I dont think from your description.

now you can see how i recognize the device, and the excel file have more than one page so i must read all pages search the specific word and change, after that work with changes included...

You need to start learning from LabVIEW basic. Need to work on your coding style.

Still, for now I guess this will work for you.

Hi Alan4,

I don't understand what exactly you guyz are looking for. You are asking same question again and again.

Read excel>>Gives you Data

You can use shift register to keep copy of data for every iteration without saving it in new excel. (Original Data)

You can do changes in this data, and keep it in other shift register. (Changed data)

Now whether to save changed data or not depends on you.

I can not explain it in more simpler way...
